This weekend, I hung out with three dachshunds - all with very different personalities. One, the oldest, has some physical challenges that he requires a bit of assistance with. Being around animals that need more of my help than others reminds me to slow down and appreciate all of the little moments I get with them. I also think about how they don't sit and dwell over their obstacles - they just do what they do and don't think twice. If only we could all learn to live (more often) in the moment like that ...
^^ Up above is actually a picture of his sister, who is full of personality. She was a little shy on this day, because I hadn't seen her in a while. I know to let her come to me, and read her body language to make sure she is comfortable with me petting her. Fortunately, it only took a few seconds for her to let me know she wanted belly rubs.
